The Indonesian Record Museum (Museum Rekor Indonesia, MURI) announced that Bandung Fe Institute is record holder for the Phylomemetic Tree of Indonesian Batik.

The Indonesian Record Museum (Museum Rekor Indonesia, MURI) announced that Bandung Fe Institute as a record holder for the Creation of Mathematical Batik Motif Database based upon Geometric Calculations in Jakarta, February 3rd 2010.

The Working Administration (2004-2009) of Bandung Fe Institute as represented by the President of BFI, Hokky Situngkir, has presented the speech on the end of duty period in front of the Board of Science Bandung, November 4th 2009.

The Working Administration (2004-2009) of Bandung Fe Institute as represented by the President of BFI, Hokky Situngkir, has presented the speech on the end of duty period in front of the Board of Science Bandung, November 4th 2009. However, the assembly has decide to elect Hokky Situngkir for another working period of administrative presidency (2009-2013). The meeting also chose researcher Deni Khanafiah as the General Secretary, researcher Rolan Mauludy Dahlan as the External Director, and Ardian Maulana as the Educational & Research Director of the institute.

Launching of The Phylomemetic Tree of Indonesian Batik

The event presented the result of hundreds of Batik Motifs from all over the Indonesian archipelago by taking the moment of October 2nd 2009, a date when UNESCO announced Batik as the World Heritage from Indonesia.

As Indonesian Batik is one of the core research conducted in the institute for the past month, cooperation with Technology & Research Ministry of Republic Indonesia has held the launch of an research implementation: The Phylomemetic Tree of Indonesian Batik at Ministry Office Building, Jakarta, Indonesia. The event presented the result of hundreds of Batik Motifs from all over the Indonesian archipelago by taking the moment of October 2nd 2009, a date when UNESCO announced Batik as the World Heritage from Indonesia.

The Batik as Fractal Demonstration is launched...

BFI has launched the special subdomain for the demosntration on how fractal can inspire Indonesian traditional culture, batik, as well as reflection on how the geometry of batik has invigorated the social life in the archipelago.

The subdomain is open for public since October 28th 2008 and named as Fraktal Batik Komputasional Indonesia uploaded with some short and light excerpt about research on fractal geometry in Batik, its impacts, and also the applets in which you can enjoy by yourself the fractality of batik designs.

The researches on fractal geoemtry of batik is conducted in two departments in the institute, the Dept. Computational Sociology and Dept. Dynamical System Modeling. However, as the target of the site is Indonesian public, the site is still in the Indonesian version. There is, nonetheless, plan to have it bilingual though.
